Ways to cure a down day

Quick note: I will be doing an FAQ soon answering some of the questions that I get a lot on Formspring and Twitter. If you have anything you'd like me to talk about just let me know in the comments :)

Eat your own weight in your favourite unhealthy food
♥ Watch old Disney movies and indulge in unrealistic portrayals of love, courage and ever volumised hair
♥ Bake. Bake brownies, cookies, cupcakes anything that takes your fancy! Then revert to tip #1
♥ Write huge long wishlists of things you like.
♥ Dig out old photo albums (or check through your pics on facebook) and laugh at just how unphotogenic you really are!
Buy yourself fresh flowers and put them all over the place
Look up Feng Shui tips online (even if you think it's all hooey) and reorganise your bedroom to get your harmonious juices flowing
Cuddle and play with your pet. If you don't have one cuddle and play with the nearest person!
 Watch ancient comedies on G.O.L.D
Blend a banana, 2 kiwi fruits and a punnet of frozen strawberries with a few tablespoons of natural yogurt for THE yummiest smoothie on the planet.
Buy things on Ebay that seem very good at the time...
Daydream about your weirdest celebrity crush
Stack all your bracelets up your arm
 Wear Florals
Watch Phineas & Ferb (just trust me on this)
♥ Cut out pretty pictures in beauty magazine (not of thin photoshopped people, of cute clothes and happy pictures) and turn them into collages :)
Write snippets of would-be epic stories
Just have a laugh at these cute/funny/happy pictures:

Wednesday Wishlist #14 ~ Can we have Spring now please?

.1.2.3.4.

Anyone else VERY ready for Spring now? With March on it's way I am really happy to be moving towards slightly warmer weathers and am currently lusting after plenty of pretty summer clothes:

1. I can't believe I haven't discovered Daisy Street before!  Their clothes are pretty and their shoes are amazing! The nude wedges are the sort of thing I'd pair with all my summer dresses. As a teeny 5'2 I really love shoes that give my height without making me look too crazy and wedges in a nude colour like this do just that. Plus they won't sink in grass like normal heels.

2&3. Both these dresses are from Modcloth and I admit I cannot stop looking at all the dresses on their site! They're all about $70 which for a girl who lives in Primark is relatively expensive plus as a US site I know the shipping will also be terrifying! Still that's what Wishlists are for isn't it? Both these dresses are at least representative of styles I love for summer: both floral but not obnoxiously so, both sweet, flirty and easily paired with a cardigan for the slightly colder evenings. Hopefully Primark will come out with something similar....

4. If you've been a reader for any length of time you'll know that I'm a huge fan of girly clothes paired with tough accessories, though with those dresses I think bird skulls and fang necklaces would have been a bit much. This cuff is the perfect medium with softer colours and the cute woven effect but the spikes and buckle just give it that edge that I always look for in jewellery.

Well I have to go get dressed for work now so I shall love you and leave you :) Let me know what's on your wishlist at the moment. Are you already looking at summer dresses or are you still firmly sticking to chunky knitwear and scarves?

Maisy's Makeup Bag

I'll never understand those girls that take their entire makeup collection in a huge makeup bag and lug it round with them all day. For everyday I typically wear such low maintenance makeup that touch ups take two minutes and require me taking only the essentials with me. This could also be called a favourite products of the moment I guess as most of the things here I've used every day for the past week.

So that's two posts in one! Frankly I'm feeling rather proud right now!

Eyes
Primark Lash Curlers | Collection 2000 Extreme Liner
Estee Lauder Sumptuous Waterproof Mascara | Gross unbranded Brow Gel (eew)

Face
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light | Benefit Thrrrob Blush

Sigma SS182 Kabuki - or whatever they call it now

Lips
MAC Lipstick in Flamingo (disc.)MAC Kissable Lipcolour in Enchantee
(disc. BUT coming out in the shoppy cooky collection in March!)

Obviously I wear more than that but my eyeshadow generally stays put all day and if I'm wearing powder I don't feel the need to lug my foundation and concealer around too!  The two lip colours I wear separately but I like having the option of changing it through the day so I usually have a few.

I have no idea where the makeup bag came from but I'm on the hunt for a new one.
I've had that for at least a year tramp and it's time I updated!

Our Late Valentines Day

My homemade card | Oreo brownies | Easter nests (what do you mean too early??)
My present! | Our romantic lunch | Playing matchmaker | My own creation.

We had a lovely day. It was nothing special as honestly every day I spend with him is amazing *vom*
I baked him brownies and got him a coat that was too boring to photograph, he bought me a kindle and took me out for a hilarious anti-romantic lunch at the Subway in Hemel where we got to look at the hilariously grim people who seem to accumulate in there of a Friday morning. At home we made Easter nests mainly because I wanted an excuse to eat Easter chocolate, watched kids movies and spent a good half an hour trying to get my cat to at least touch noses with Bulbasaur if only for a good picture but she was having none of it. She's got standards!

also there's a tiddly sneak peak inside my card - there is writing but it's mushy and gross so I'll just let you see the pictures. It's a mass of in jokes, memories and seven different valentines cards I bought to chop up into this collage. (I got some interesting looks going up to the checkout with those on my lunchbreak I can tell you!!)

So that's that. My day with the lovely Elliott who I love immensely :)

Hope you guys had a good one and if you didn't have a date at least spoiled yourself rotten or had some mates do it for you! I'll let you back to curing alopecia or whatever it is you do in your spare time.

Bye guys!

Revlon Matte Lipstick: Pink About It

 I freaking love this lipstick!

I bought this from Ebay on Saturday night and it arrived Monday morning! Revlon Matte lipsticks are about £8 in Boots but I found mine for £2.50 with shipping for just £1! Seriously Revlon here is incredibly overpriced and I really recommend checking out Ebay for bargains and the ability to snap up colours that aren't available in the UK.

I'm so glad I decided to try the lipstick. I've put myself on a little MAC ban for a while and I'm not regretting it one bit! I prefer this to MAC mattes any day of the week. It's genuinely matte but with a creamy formula that lasts forever on my lips. The colour of this particular shade 'Pink About It' is really interesting: a neutral toned reddish pink that is super flattering on my pale skin but I think it would suit lots of tones. It also has no scent which for some people is a huge plus point.

A great alternative if you find straight up red a bit threatening, it can be applied as a bright lip colour or dabbed on for a slightly softer look. I also love the packaging, it looks and feels really chic and the top is clear so if you store them stood upright you can easily see which is which. I'm definitely a convert to Revlon lippies and I've already sneakily bought myself another colour which I'll show once it comes.

I hope everyone's having a good valentines day with your loved ones or indulging in some serious self pampering! My boyfriend is working and I'm sat at home with a terribly bad throat in my jammies so we're going to have our own late valentines day when we both have a day off and I'm no longer infectious. Yay!

How have you spent your day?

Have you tried any Revlon lippies? What are your faves?

Wednesday Wishlist #13 ~ Pastel Phobia

.1.2.3.4.

This is another 'woo pastels!' themed post. For this wishlist I just included things that I'd recommend for girlies who are a little unsure about pastels but want to start to experiment with them. Not a huge wishlist as I'm currently saving for a trip to Paris with my boyfriend and a few friends in April which should be epic!

1. This cardi is from TopShop and is a great thing to sling over a white tee and some pale blue or grey jeans with pumps for an effortless look. I'm definitely picking this up for the spring months. It's quite a muted colour but is still great for channeling a bit of your inner care bear, and would look lovely paired with other pastel pieces.

2. I first saw this here on Cherry's blog and I think it's the perfect way to just sling on a little pastel-ness with any outfit. I love that it looks like bunting! It's sweet but not too cutesy - perfect for you closet tomboys out there. It's a tenner from ASOS which might seem a smidge pricey but it's definitely something you could wear anytime.

3 & 4. Obviously the easiest way to get into the pastel trend is with your nails! I've already featured Models Own polishes Lilac Dream and Jade Stone - both great colours. The two I'm showing here are wonderfully subtle and both by China Glaze 3. is Something Sweet  (cue me singing the Beauty & the Beast song for the next half an hour) and 4. is Light As Air. There are a lot of very harsh acrid pastel polishes that flash about on your fingers and often look quite childish. these two are lovely easy to wear colours and I love the formula of China Glaze polishes.

Those are just a few suggestions for things to start out with if you want to do pastels but aren't too confident putting them into an outfit. Just go for softer tones and pair them with simple pieces so you're not overwhelming yourself and looking like a My Little Pony.

That's all folks! Any questions hit me up on Formspring :)

Models Own: Jade Stone

Another slightly iffy paint job but I was in a hurry!

Regardless isn't this such a lovely colour? Definitely a good way to indulge in the Pastel trend without the risk of channeling a Care Bear. My only real complaint about jade Stone is that it takes a few coats to get it to be completely opaque. It's got a really unique colour to it, a cheery mint green that makes me smile and think of spring. It's like the cousin of Essie's Mint Candy Apple. Not as loud or eye catching but would make a very tearful speech at a wedding and would probably play an instrument. I really don't wear a lot of green - I don't know why I just never feel in a 'green' sort of mood but I have worn this a couple of times and it always lifts my mood a bit.

I've worn this with a matte top coat and it takes it to a whole new level! I know that sounds a bit overly enthusiastic but generally one puts a matte topcoat on a polish, waits for it to work and goes. "ooh." I tried it with this and went "Woah!" It suddenly looked edgy and exciting - like it'd just put on black lipstick. Definitely something to try if you've had this polish for a while but have been neglecting it.

RIGHT that's all for this review! I think I'll take a break with Models Own for a while and show you some swatches of other brands I like. Any questions just hit me up on Formspring :) thanks for reading lovelies

January Was....

 [Tiring]

 High Points:
My mini makeup swap with the lovely Vee in which I swapped a Sugarpill eyeshadow for a gorgeous China Glaze polish!
Sale shopping and picking up bargains!
Receiving a Bulbasaur plush from one of Elliotts friends who'd found it in his garage and decided he needed a new home with someone childish enough to still enjoy it.

Low Points:
.My English lit. exam on the 24th and all that horrible revision that went with it. Am I the only one who never feels prepared enough for exams no matter how much work I do for it?
.The cold really setting in. No more light jackets and thin fashion tights for this girl!
.Finding an enormous gash on my Kitty's chin! Some people have moved in down the road with two rather big and boisterous cats so Boo's been having to defend her territory. She's a very tiny kitty but she's been putting up a good fight. *proud mamma*

I have learned:
.You get out what you put in in every aspect of your life - goals, relationships, diets - everything.
.If my work is shut because of snow and I'm meant to be working I still get paid! Fingers crossed!

I have loved:
.Mum's sausaged and potato casserole. A horrendous calorie and carb monster of a meal but so comforting and delicious after being out in the cold.
.MAC's Flamingo lipstick: This baby sold out in a few days online but luckily I managed to score it and it's a lovely soft colour but bright enough to make a statement.
.The look of MAC's next few collections. I was disappointed in the later ones last year but the next three or four look right up my proverbial alley and I'm already making wishlists.

I am leaving:
Revision and school work for a month. I'm forgoing my studies this month to focus on my reading for uni (and to catch up on my reading challenge!)
The amount of overtime I've been working lately. It's been work, sleep, work, revise, sleep for the last three weeks. I need a bit of a break!

I'm looking forward too:
.Actually seeing the boyf for more than a few hours due to our uncooperative work schedules. We've both sneakily wangled a few days off at the same time. Naughty employees we are!
.Being absolutely loaded from all that overtime I mentioned above. See - you get out what you put in? In this case - LOTS!
.Starting my February Flab Fight feature here on my blog and shifting that pesky Christmas padding I'm carrying round!
.Valentines Day <3

.Doing a guest post for Sparkly Flamingo

Blogs I've discovered
Wishbone
Cherry Pie
Milk Bubble Tea
Beautilate

Books I'd recommend
The Fault in Our Stars - John Green
The Alchemist - Paul Coelho
